The Centrality of Lagna
The first part of the book is devoted to Lagna and begins by examining its evolution and significance, including the crucial question of Birth Time Rectification (BTR). This is an appropriate starting point. If Lagna is to become a principal predictive anchor, the accuracy of the birth time assumes considerable importance.
Many more interesting discussions appears in the chapter dealing with the degree of Lagna and planets. He illustrates the proposition through cases involving high achievers from different fields.
He is putting forward an observation that readers can examine against their own databases and experience.
Lagna Has More Than One Face
The discussion then broadens through the examination of different forms of Lagna—Rashi Lagna, Bhava Lagna, Hora Lagna, Ghatika Lagna, Shri Lagna, Arudha Lagna, Indu Lagna and others.
For a student who has traditionally regarded the Ascendant as a single entity, this section opens an important conceptual window. Different Lagnas can provide different perspectives on the horoscope, and the author's treatment encourages the reader to consider whether the choice of Lagna itself can influence the questions being asked of a chart.
Concepts such as Dasha Lagna, Progressive Lagna Dasha and Natural Enemy Dasha introduce additional layers to the predictive process.
Particularly noteworthy is the author's exploration of progression.
The discussion of Tithi Shunya Rashi, Gulika, Mandi and Kubera Point further demonstrates the book's breadth, while the examples make otherwise specialised concepts relatively accessible.

Part B provides the book with Chapter 8, which, in my view, is the conceptual soul of the book and provides its most distinctive intellectual contribution.
Adhipathya: A Different Way of Looking at Planetary Behaviour
The key word here is Adhipathya.
Traditional approach
Planet → Sign Lord → House → Event
Whereas Shri Hariharan's Nakshatra-based approach can be represented as:
Planet → Nakshatra → Nakshatra Lord → Adhipathya → Houses → Event
That additional chain is important.
The author's examples—such as the proposition that a Mars placed in Taurus and a Mars placed in Gemini may effectively behave as different functional expressions of Mars—are particularly thought-provoking.
This is also the point at which an interesting comparison with Krishnamurti Paddhati (KP) naturally arises. KP has famously placed the Nakshatra lord and subsequently the Sub Lord at the centre of its predictive mechanism.
A detailed comparative study of the two systems could therefore be highly rewarding. The similarities invite comparison; the differences invite research.
From Nav Tara to Research
The discussion of the Nav Tara Chakra extends the Nakshatra framework further. Planetary strength, Tara relationships, Pada-based assessment and the concept of Yoga Tara are examined, with useful tables accompanying the discussion.
The repeated use of familiar horoscopes across chapters is another commendable feature.
Chapter 10 then moves explicitly into research territory.
The author's discussion of progressive Dasha systems based on the Moon (PVD), Sun (SVD) and Lagna (LVD) is particularly interesting.
The Practical Payoff
One of the book's most useful features comes toward the end.
The final chapter synthesises the principal lessons of the preceding chapters and turns them into a practical predictive framework. This is particularly valuable because it means the reader does not necessarily have to proceed linearly through the book.

Conclusion
The book asks us to look again alternative frameworks—and, more importantly, to consider how these factors may interact rather than treating them as disconnected techniques.
Author’s ability to simplify complex material, support concepts with practical cases, provide concise chapter summaries and offer ready-reference tables makes the book accessible without making its subject matter superficial is commendable.
Some concepts will undoubtedly require repeated reading. Others will invite debate and comparative research. That is not a weakness. It is part of the book's appeal.
In an area where much has already been written, New Approaches to Predictive Astrology makes a sincere attempt to open new lines of inquiry.
And perhaps that is the most appropriate way to describe the book:
It does not merely teach the reader how to read a horoscope. It invites the reader to reconsider what, exactly, should be read—and how.

Good Book

Morgan. More than distant floating planets and unseen stars, the do have impact on earthly life, including we human beings, was a fact found out by our ancient seers. Astrology prepares us to face perils, overcome sudden developments in one’s unchartered life It essentially tells one why certain things happen to me only and good things are quite ofen elusive.

The attempts by my dear friend bring out the complexity of this science into an understandable form and format, quite replicable, worthy of emulation, for each and every hunder of astrology. In his latest book, fourth in his series, he adeptly and succinctly explains many of the intricacies of this science, like innumerable types and significance of each lagna, planets in degree specifies; mrityu and amritha bhags all heard about but not used by many astrologers. Example are pofuse that explain astrological subtleties and nuances like start lords of planets changing the results of otherwise good/exalted placements. This he has done with his unusal thirst for knowledge, delving into secrets of this holy science, with his scorpion sharpness.

His method and navelsolution for theage-old conundrum of, which house lord is to be taken in prediction, for all the twin house planets, is superb, thrilling and more than just thought-provoking. Such findings are possible only for researcher, which he is all alon, from his younger days.

May of his other concepts are beyond comprehension of an ordinary reader like me, requiring more patience and interest in astrology, quite lacking in my aging days, filled with other less mundane priorites Shri Hariraj, as we fondly call him, has all the potential of doyens like Shri Seshadri Iyer and Shri A.V. Sundaram. I wish personally, he explains charts using multiple dasha systems also, regarding major events in a native’s life.Best wishes for further reasearch in newer areas of the science of astrology, like past life aspects in charts, positive things about debilitated planets, worse side of exalted planets, pre-natal chart, nadi jyothish, medical astrology, to name a few.
