Jaimini: Arudhas and Divisional Charts [English]
By Anantha Sharma
Publications : Sagar Publications
Arudha means "mount" or "image" and refers to a reflection of the house it represents, capturing how one’s qualities are perceived externally.
Each house has an Arudha Pada (e.g., A1 for the 1st house, A2 for the 2nd house), found by taking the number of houses from the house lord to the house itself and moving the same number of houses from the lord’s position in the chart.
Key Arudhas include:
A1 (Lagna Arudha or AL): The external persona or public image.
A2: Wealth and resources visible to others.
A7: Reflection of the spouse or marriage image.
A10: Career and professional reputation.
Divisional charts (or Vargas) divide the Rashi chart into finer sections, giving detailed insights into specific areas.
Jaimini astrology often emphasizes divisional charts like:
D1 (Rashi chart): The basic natal chart, providing an overview of the person’s life.
D9 (Navamsa): Critical for relationships, marriage, and spiritual growth.
D10 (Dashamsa): Primarily used to analyze career and public life.
These charts are interpreted through Jaimini’s aspects and Chara Karakas (significators) rather than traditional house lords, focusing on how different aspects of life are supported or challenged over time.
By layering Arudhas with divisional charts, astrologers can get nuanced views on how public perception (Arudha) aligns with different life aspects in each divisional chart
