Story Summary: A tortoise develops a friendship with two geese. When a drought dries up their pond, the geese offer to fly the tortoise to a new lake, holding a stick between them that the tortoise can bite on to be carried through the sky. They warn the tortoise to keep quiet during the journey. However, as they fly, the tortoise hears people mocking him from below and opens his mouth to respond, causing him to fall to his death.
Moral: True friends give good advice, and it’s wise to follow it. Sometimes, it’s better to remain silent than to react impulsively.
