This treatise on astrology, the third of his series, is more than a book and is indeed mind boggling, as it goes into the depth of dissecting the kundali chart, from numerous angles, from rarely used star lord of planets, shadow planets, vargottama planets, retrograde nature of benefics and malefics, parivarthana between lords of dustaanas, debilitation/exaltation in dustaana, degree of progress of planets, all combined together in different chapters, with known rules and more importantly, based on author’s own experience, collated over the years. The dasa effects of planets are explained tersely with cogent reasons and ample illustrations, along with the impact of planetary transits.
Major life events like education, children, career/business are explained with the most important aspect on timing of events, often needed for each consultee. The chapter on the less used and often neglected “Kalapurusha” concept will act as stimulus, to further a student’s interests in exploring this rather difficult science besides enhancing his predictive abilities. Seemingly well-placed planets sometimes don’t give desired results, is aptly explained with examples, in this less trodden chapter.
Many astrologers are content and conversant with reading only the basic chart with appended navamsa. The author has ventured into taking up the innovative study of divisional charts ( a virgin area for further exploration), for more accurate reading of different facets of life, such as siblings, property, parents, career ups and downs, spouse, education. D charts or varga charts are more useful (than basic rasi chart) about specific aspects of life events, as they are carriers of subtle energy, seldom explored by present astrologers.
It is said by astrology savants, at least two dasha systems should be studied and integrated, for improving success in predictions. Most of us are familiar with vimshottari dasha only, remaining least aware of other equally effective dasha systems, such as kala chakra dasha, yogini dasha, mandook dasha to say a few. The author, an ardent lover of astrology, has given good exposition on these systems also, with demonstrable evidence.
Nuances of studies include his exploration into Nadi astrology, concept of Progressed (as opposed to fixed) lagna, utility of Astagavarga for transit effects. Separate chapters are given for tips for predicting important events like marriage, child birth, promotion in career, financial improvements, unforeseen risks in life.
Separate chapter on ‘contradictions in predictions’ is added to remove complexities in astrology, dealing with very good questions and solutions about subtle variations of planetary states and their effects due to vargottama, debilitation, retrogression, dig bala which will certainly baffle any student in the beginning only to become definite aids later. Various contradicting views on effectiveness of different yogas and time of fruition are deftly handled and explained in this highly valuable book.
The author has rightly concluded that astrology is a science of constant exploration and discovery. It is an evolving science and we evolve along with new discoveries, modern interpretation of traditional values and newer advanced techniques of interpretation.

Hariharan, a seasoned follower of astrology who has previously contributed to two other volumes to the field, this book stands out for its thorough examination of the complexities that lie within the practice of predictive astrology. With a focus on the subtleties that often go unnoticed by many, the author guides the reader through an enlightening journey of understanding both the potential and limitations of astrological predictions.

From the outset, the book positions itself as a text for the serious students of astrology. The book is structured in such a way that mirrors the natural progression of an astrological consultation. Chapter 2 of the book lucidly explains the nuances subject wise so that they can serve as some kind of rules which can be used for predictions. Anyone who wants to understand about marriage or child birth or profession or prosperity and so on can refer to this chapter for clear answers.

The author has then moved into complex but less commonly discussed subjects like ‘kalapurusha charts’ Varga charts, Dasa systems which are not commonly in vogue including ‘Kala chakra dasa system’. The beauty of the book is that author has made these complex subjects and concepts look very simple and easy to understand. I must say, I haven’t seen any book where the kalapurusha chart has been conceptualized so intrinsically and beautifully. Kudos to the author for the same.

The Chapter which would stand out as the best in the book for its contents and clarity, is the Chapter on Nadi system of astrology. Any reader who wants to understand the basics of Nadi system can really be benefited by reading this chapter. There is nothing missing in this chapter about Nadi astrology, as it is presented in a capsule form for easy understanding and application. The author has also dealt with the very complex and confusing progressive dasa systems so beautifully in this chapter that it makes very interesting reading.

Chapters on ashtagavarga, gochara transits brings out clearly how these should be looked into, in a non traditional way, considering the nuances which the author has brought clearly in these chapters. A short and sweet chapter on ‘tips for predictions’ though appears to be small in terms of contents, it can be used effectively for predictions taking into account the approach made out clearly by the author. Even the two appendices namely on the ‘Hora system’ and Vivaha chakra are very informative and useful.

The highlight of the book is Part B covering ‘ Contradictions in astrology.’ This makes the book particularly valuable for its candid discussions of the contradictions that arise in astrological analysis. The author has listed 52 of such contradictions , explained the contradictions clearly and given reasoned answers and views as to how to deal with these contradictions in Predictive astrology. In my humble view, no other book or author has ever attempted such a complex task of explaining the contradictions and try to find answers for the same. This chapter is a book in itself for the contents and conceptualization. I must say this chapter clearly brings out the in-depth knowledge of the author which he has disseminated throughout this book for the benefit of readers.

Another key strength of the book is its practical application. The author presents numerous illustrations in each chapter under different heads to bring out clearly the concepts and how they are applicable to real life events and situations. In my view, very few authors can use live illustrations so effectively to explain the complex concepts as is done in this book.

Despite its strengths, this book does require a certain level of familiarity with astrological concepts. Beginners may find some of the discussions advanced, especially when the author delves into complex techniques. However for intermediate to advanced students, this book offers a wealth of knowledge and serves as a valuable reference for deepening their practice. The author’s writing style is both scholarly and accessible, striking a balance between theoretical exposition and practical application.

In conclusion, this book is a significant contribution to to the field of predictive astrology. It is a must read for anyone serious about mastering the art of predictive astrology. By contributing to such a valuable book the author has proved beyond doubt that he is the worthy son of his worthy father.
