Nuances & Contradictions in Predictive Astrology [English] By B Hariharan

Publisher: Big Note Publication

Quotes from the Book Astrology, is a science where interpretations can be done in multiple ways. However it is the right approach to the interpretations which make the predictions meaningful and accurate. This book seeks to shed light on the complexities and also enumerates the right ways to interpret them. The theme of the book is to simplify astrological concepts into small tips or rules so that even a beginner can use them for predictions appropriately and effectively. In the end astrology is not a one-size-fits-all system. It is not about finding easy answers or definitive truths but embracing the uncertainty and ambiguity of life. While we will continue to explore the nuances and contradictions in astrology, it is my belief that the book will succeed in providing the right approach to the Readers in that direction. I found and am sure every reader of this work too will find that the author has skillfully created template for horoscopic analysis. The author has highlighted and given tips on the use of Dasha, Ashtagavarga, NADI and Transits and synced them together seamlessly. His approach to the Kalapurusha Horoscope is novel and throws a new angle for viewing.’(From the Foreword) About the Author The Author of the Book Sri B. A Masterpiece! Must for all Astrology Student and enthusiast!

• It is apparent, by way of writing and illustrative horoscopes, that the author has lived his research over time, with these horoscopes and spent considerable time, reflecting these and then putting it on paper, in various easy to understand way.
• This is the third book, in the series, from the Author. And it is very different in its treatment.
• But what is common link is writing style of the author and his ability to pack the punch in his trademark simple and easy to understand language.
• It covers areas not covered by the author in his earlier books or in such details, as covered here.
• From the beginning, the book positions itself as a text for the serious students of astrology.
• The book is structured in a way that represents, the natural progression of an astrological consultation.
• Typically, it is very rare for someone to come out and share his findings/ research in a very structured manner.
• This Book can also serve for a student as an encyclopedia to focus on what are the key areas , which need attention, for doing a prediction ( and it is not about just knowing a particular way to look at say Lagna or Navamansa). Just going through Index of the book , will open your eyes, to the sheer variety.
• For students of astrology, one problem always remain about how to handle the contradictions and how to get the results out of it. It takes decades of practice and own research before , one understands these subtilities.
All this has been very subtly explained in easy to understand way, in the part B of the book , through very important 52 ideas/ contradictions in question and answer format.

Some Novelty included in the books are summarized for benefits of other readers:

• Kala purusha Concept – where the Author suggests placing the natal chart planets in the same signs as they would be placed in Kalapursuha chart ( one starting from 1st House as Aries or Mesh). [ Note: I tried doing it on my own and family members chart and found the results to be very good.]
o Implications of Dasa based on the Kala purusha concepts

• Varga Chakra or Divisional Charts ( D1 to D60) – The 16 divisional charts including the Shadvarga ( 6 division charts) ,Saptavarga (7 division chart),DasaVarga( 10 division Chart) and Shodasvarga ( 16 division chart) incorporating the finer points of BPHS, and authors research are covered here. The illustrative charts really add to the readers understanding.

• Special Dasa System – Other important Dasa system (other than vimshotari ) like yogini are covered here.

• Nadi– While Brighu Nandi Nadi (BNN) is more famous, others like Saptarishi Nadi, Sukar Nadi and Chandra Kala Nadi are also important and covered adequately.

• Progression –
o Rasi Progression
o Planet Progression
o Dasa Progression
o Application of Progressed Lagna concepts as used in Yogini Dasa, applied to Vimshotari Dasa is also giving results.

Finer aspects of Ashtakavarga

o Linking Planet Transits with Ashtakavarga

- how the transit affect based on the bindus or points in the Ashtakavarga.
- What is the bare minimum bindus one need to have to have a beneficial transit?
- How much of bindus are auspicious ?and
- What should be the ideal bindu in a horoscope?
- Whether native will earn money with hardwork or without hardwork?.. etc

 Part B comprising of 52 contradictions in question and answer format , with illustrative charts is Ground Breaking Work. To illusatrate:
o What happens if Lagna lord is in 6th /8th or 12th House?
o What happens if Lagna lord in retrograde?
o What happens if Lagna lord is exalted in D1 and debilitated in D10?
o What happens if the planet is based in 8th house ? what kind of results will they give?
o What happens if benefics are placed in dushtanas and / or malefics in kendra and trikona?

Needless to say, the Part B section of the Book, will act as a must read in one go, for serious student of astrology, like any other engrossing book.

I can say so, being a student of astrology – each questions entail lots of deliberation and thinking and to have an opportunity to read , in such a format ( Q&A), so easily available , is really my delight.!!!

There are three important annexures, also at the end of book, incorporating the following, which provided additional information :
o A Glossary which helps to understand the terms used in the book
o Vivaha Chakra for marriage muhurt – on how to fix time for marriage
o Hora and its importance for routine activities of life

To summarize, I heartily recommend this book to all aspiring students and experts alike.

UNIQUE BOOK IN ASTROLOGY

Sri Haraharan’s book is of a different kind and markedly different from many other astrology books available to keen readers, especially students. Sri Hariharan’s commentary is unique because he talks about the core issues which facilitates the practitioner in the delineation of the horoscope and drawing the correct inferences.
I found and am sure every reader of this work too will find that the author has skillfully created a template for horoscopic analysis. The author has highlighted and given tips on the use of Dasha, Ashtakavarga, Nadi and Transits and synced them together seamlessly. His approach to the Kalapurusha Horoscope is novel and throws a new angle for viewing.
The Vivaha Chakra, he has appended to his work, is definitely a freebie in the kit.
Sri Hariharan’s book, brings another dimension to light - that his father Late Sri H Bhuthalingam’s astrological genes have found words in print and the baton which the late master passed on to his worthy son has enabled him to create something special.
I would like to commend Sri Hariharan’s book to all keen astrologers - students and the practioners. Such books come once in a while. I will definitely keep it handy in my shelf for reference.

Mind boggling book on Astrology

This treatise on astrology, the third of his series, is more than a book and is indeed mind boggling, as it goes into the depth of dissecting the kundali chart, from numerous angles, from rarely used star lord of planets, shadow planets, vargottama planets, retrograde nature of benefics and malefics, parivarthana between lords of dustaanas, debilitation/exaltation in dustaana, degree of progress of planets, all combined together in different chapters, with known rules and more importantly, based on author’s own experience, collated over the years. The dasa effects of planets are explained tersely with cogent reasons and ample illustrations, along with the impact of planetary transits.
Major life events like education, children, career/business are explained with the most important aspect on timing of events, often needed for each consultee. The chapter on the less used and often neglected “Kalapurusha” concept will act as stimulus, to further a student’s interests in exploring this rather difficult science besides enhancing his predictive abilities. Seemingly well-placed planets sometimes don’t give desired results, is aptly explained with examples, in this less trodden chapter.
Many astrologers are content and conversant with reading only the basic chart with appended navamsa. The author has ventured into taking up the innovative study of divisional charts ( a virgin area for further exploration), for more accurate reading of different facets of life, such as siblings, property, parents, career ups and downs, spouse, education. D charts or varga charts are more useful (than basic rasi chart) about specific aspects of life events, as they are carriers of subtle energy, seldom explored by present astrologers.
It is said by astrology savants, at least two dasha systems should be studied and integrated, for improving success in predictions. Most of us are familiar with vimshottari dasha only, remaining least aware of other equally effective dasha systems, such as kala chakra dasha, yogini dasha, mandook dasha to say a few. The author, an ardent lover of astrology, has given good exposition on these systems also, with demonstrable evidence.
Nuances of studies include his exploration into Nadi astrology, concept of Progressed (as opposed to fixed) lagna, utility of Astagavarga for transit effects. Separate chapters are given for tips for predicting important events like marriage, child birth, promotion in career, financial improvements, unforeseen risks in life.
Separate chapter on ‘contradictions in predictions’ is added to remove complexities in astrology, dealing with very good questions and solutions about subtle variations of planetary states and their effects due to vargottama, debilitation, retrogression, dig bala which will certainly baffle any student in the beginning only to become definite aids later. Various contradicting views on effectiveness of different yogas and time of fruition are deftly handled and explained in this highly valuable book.
The author has rightly concluded that astrology is a science of constant exploration and discovery. It is an evolving science and we evolve along with new discoveries, modern interpretation of traditional values and newer advanced techniques of interpretation.
I extend my best wishes for the author, my amiable colleague, known for dedication, honesty and love for exploration in all walks of life, professionally and individually.

Best book on Predictive Astrology

Nuances and Contradictions in Predictive Astrology is a profound exploration of the intricacies involved in interpreting astrological charts. Authored by Mr B. Hariharan, a seasoned follower of astrology who has previously contributed to two other volumes to the field, this book stands out for its thorough examination of the complexities that lie within the practice of predictive astrology. With a focus on the subtleties that often go unnoticed by many, the author guides the reader through an enlightening journey of understanding both the potential and limitations of astrological predictions.

From the outset, the book positions itself as a text for the serious students of astrology. The book is structured in such a way that mirrors the natural progression of an astrological consultation. Chapter 2 of the book lucidly explains the nuances subject wise so that they can serve as some kind of rules which can be used for predictions. Anyone who wants to understand about marriage or child birth or profession or prosperity and so on can refer to this chapter for clear answers.

The author has then moved into complex but less commonly discussed subjects like ‘kalapurusha charts’ Varga charts, Dasa systems which are not commonly in vogue including ‘Kala chakra dasa system’. The beauty of the book is that author has made these complex subjects and concepts look very simple and easy to understand. I must say, I haven’t seen any book where the kalapurusha chart has been conceptualized so intrinsically and beautifully. Kudos to the author for the same.

The Chapter which would stand out as the best in the book for its contents and clarity, is the Chapter on Nadi system of astrology. Any reader who wants to understand the basics of Nadi system can really be benefited by reading this chapter. There is nothing missing in this chapter about Nadi astrology, as it is presented in a capsule form for easy understanding and application. The author has also dealt with the very complex and confusing progressive dasa systems so beautifully in this chapter that it makes very interesting reading.

Chapters on ashtagavarga, gochara transits brings out clearly how these should be looked into, in a non traditional way, considering the nuances which the author has brought clearly in these chapters. A short and sweet chapter on ‘tips for predictions’ though appears to be small in terms of contents, it can be used effectively for predictions taking into account the approach made out clearly by the author. Even the two appendices namely on the ‘Hora system’ and Vivaha chakra are very informative and useful.

The highlight of the book is Part B covering ‘ Contradictions in astrology.’ This makes the book particularly valuable for its candid discussions of the contradictions that arise in astrological analysis. The author has listed 52 of such contradictions , explained the contradictions clearly and given reasoned answers and views as to how to deal with these contradictions in Predictive astrology. In my humble view, no other book or author has ever attempted such a complex task of explaining the contradictions and try to find answers for the same. This chapter is a book in itself for the contents and conceptualization. I must say this chapter clearly brings out the in-depth knowledge of the author which he has disseminated throughout this book for the benefit of readers.

Another key strength of the book is its practical application. The author presents numerous illustrations in each chapter under different heads to bring out clearly the concepts and how they are applicable to real life events and situations. In my view, very few authors can use live illustrations so effectively to explain the complex concepts as is done in this book.

Despite its strengths, this book does require a certain level of familiarity with astrological concepts. Beginners may find some of the discussions advanced, especially when the author delves into complex techniques. However for intermediate to advanced students, this book offers a wealth of knowledge and serves as a valuable reference for deepening their practice. The author’s writing style is both scholarly and accessible, striking a balance between theoretical exposition and practical application.

In conclusion, this book is a significant contribution to to the field of predictive astrology. It is a must read for anyone serious about mastering the art of predictive astrology. By contributing to such a valuable book the author has proved beyond doubt that he is the worthy son of his worthy father.

Last but not not the least the publishers of the book, Big Note publications should be complimented for bringing out such a valuable book and also for the get up of the book and the quality of printing.

Pranams once again to the author. Look forward to seeing more contributions from him in the field of predictive astrology.
